Boho Top - "Memena" in blue
Ease into summer with this Boho Top.
It is made of blue fabric handwoven in north Luzon, Philippines. We call it "Memena" - Filipino baby-talk for "sleep now" - because this soft fabric is traditionally used to make blankets.
The straps are made of our signature handsewn fabric components. You are buying the Boho Top shown in the first two photos.
- Armpit to armpit, it has a maximum stretched length of 25 inches (for a total maximum of 50 inches around the chest).
- From armpit to hem, the length is 16 inches. It will fall around your hips.
- Straps cross at the back
Care: Gentle hand-washing.
How we make our fabric components:
When we get our handwoven fabric after months of anticipated waiting, we hand-cut circles 2.5 inches from the cloth. These circles are then picked up by the women we work with from a disadvantaged community in Las Pinas. They hand-sew and fill each of these circles to make the fabric components.
When the components find their way back into our workshop, we employ more hand-sewing techniques to transform them into the objects our customers enjoy.
It takes us three complete days to finish a bolero. It is work that requires equal parts skill, dedication, and love.
